Thailand’s Paetongtarn Shinawatra just took office, and Cambodia is already getting anxious?

On July 4, 2025, at 1:30 PM, at Thailand’s Ministry of Culture, Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra presided over a high-level meeting of the Ministry of Culture.
At the outset, Paetongtarn Shinawatr expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended since the morning. She noted that this marked her first time chairing a ministry meeting, stating she had numerous ideas to advance collectively and would also update attendees on recent progress.
She revealed she had completed preparatory work and looked forward to hearing departmental reports on current responsibilities and key future priorities.
Paetongtarn Shinawatra pointed out that it was necessary to first clarify a false report circulating online regarding Thailand’s alleged return of 20 ancient artifacts to Cambodia.
She emphasized that this information was inaccurate. The matter in question actually originated during the administration of former Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha—in 2015, Thailand had already returned 23 artifacts confirmed to belong to Cambodia.
